20 Years of Snowflake Lane
November 27, 2024 - by Rachel Pfalzer
One of the Pacific Northwest's most highly anticipated holiday events returns for its 20th year! Snowflake Lane, presented by The Bellevue Collection and the Kemper Freeman family, will light up Bellevue Way nightly at 7 p.m. from Friday, Nov. 29 through Tuesday, Dec. 24. The parade will take place between Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square from NE 4th to NE 8th Streets, giving ample viewing opportunities for visitors, shoppers, and passersby.
“Snowflake Lane has been a cherished Northwest holiday tradition for two decades and that’s a milestone we’re very proud of,” said Jennifer Leavitt, vice president of marketing for The Bellevue Collection. “Thanks to the performers, production team and the Kemper Freeman family, we can continue this special tradition for our guests year after year, sharing a memorable experience for family and friends.”
The holiday event will transform the streets of Downtown into a true winter wonderland with a dazzling light show, falling snow, festive parade floats, costumed characters, live singing, and special visits from Santa. Each performance will showcase some of the very best young, local talent, courtesy of Greg Thompson Productions. The many performers will be outfitted as toy drummers, jingle bell dancers, sugar plum fairies, and more, immersing guests in a fantasy world unlike any other.
Every year, the scale of Snowflake Lane grows, with an average of 400,000 guests and almost 80,000 pieces of candy for lucky parade-goers. This vision is brought to life by Kemper Freeman, who was inspired over 20 years ago by other famous holiday celebrations such as New York City’s Fifth Avenue and Chicago’s Magnificent Mile. Freeman knew that Downtown Bellevue needed a free seasonal event that families could look forward to as a multigenerational tradition. When it started two decades ago, Snowflake Lane was a small sidewalk performance. Today, it has become one of the most beloved festive experiences in the region, attracting visitors from all over looking to spread cheer
