Finding Strength in Motherhood With Fit4Mom Bellevue & Mercer Island
In a small corner of Downtown Bellevue lies a fitness community made up of mothers who support each other through every stage of life. Fit4Mom Bellevue & Mercer Island is a prenatal and postnatal fitness and wellness program to help make moms strong in body, mind and spirit. Owner Jasmine Dailida is passionate about making it an inclusive place for all moms.
“Fit4Mom isn’t just for moms who make X,Y and Z or for those who just stay at home. We’re a place for all moms-- working moms, minority moms, whoever wants to be here is welcome here,” Dailida said.
Dailida is more than just the owner, she too is a working mom who understands the struggle of what motherhood can bring. She started her journey with Fit4Mom as a client in 2016 and fell in love with the concept of a network of moms who come out and want to support each other.
“The previous owner was ready to close up Fit4Mom for good and I said no, I want to buy it,” she said. “That’s how I became a black female business owner in a pandemic.”
Dailida said there was a time that she couldn’t even hold a plank, but Fit4Mom was able to scale exercises to fit her strength.
"Whether you’re coming out for just happy exercise endorphins or you want to get your body feeling strong and healthy, whatever it is, we’re able to scale workouts to your needs and we got you covered," she said.
Unlike business owners who primarily do admin work and hire coaches, Dailida chooses to be on-the-ground teaching and working.
"I want African American moms and minority moms to see me and be like 'oh wow, there’s a mom working out with her kids who looks like me!' I want to be someone to identify with,” she said
Dailida stated she has zero regrets investing in Fit4Mom and she could not picture the past 18 months any other way.
“I want moms to see a workout and know that you don’t have to be wearing brand new workout clothes to do this or have your life together,” Dailida said. “Let’s be real here. We don’t care what you’re wearing, we don’t care that you don’t have your life together, because none of us do. You made it here and that’s what it’s all about."
