He(ART) of Bellevue Weekly Spotlight: Calcifer Glass, Marcella Kriebel Art, and More

The Bellevue Downtown Arts Market is a vibrant event that celebrates the artistic talent and creativity of over 110+ artists. The Arts Market is a great way to spotlight these artists and their incredible work. This week's He(ART) of Bellevue showcases six exceptional artists who have dedicated their time perfecting their craft using mediums, such as, watercolors, wood, and glass.

Calcifer Glass
Artist: Dayne Lopez

What type of art do you create?

All my work is handblown and hand sculpted at my studio in Oak Harbor, WA. Primary my work is glass and copper garden art, including leaves, flowers, hummingbirds, bees, owls, mushrooms, bamboo, and more.

How long have you been practicing your type of art?

I have been blowing glass since 1992. My interest in the medium grew quickly and I started my own business, Dayne Studios, which later became Calcifer Glass. After operating in Renton, WA for two years, I moved my studio to Oak Harbor, WA.

What is your latest project?

Expanding on my product line by fine-tuning products I've already created, plus adding new ones. I mainly take inspiration from nature and I enjoy figuring out how best to design a piece using glass as a medium. I also like to make sure that my art can be enjoyed by the most people possible and I feel my prices reflect that.

Marcella Kriebel Art

What type of art do you create?

Vibrant watercolors that celebrate culture through the lens of food and nature. Find my work as a series of art prints, printed onto kitchen towels and greeting cards.

Where did you learn or develop your technique?

I do watercolor because it’s such a portable medium. I love to make art while I travel.

Anything else you'd like to share with the Bellevue community?

I’m excited to share my work with this community! I’m a West Coast native with and East Coast presence: I split my time between Washington, DC and Hood River, Oregon.

Morgan-Millworks
Artist: Bruce Morgan

What type of art do you create?

We manufacture Salt and Pepper Mill handcrafted in elegant designs from rare and exotic hardwoods sourced from around the world. We also make wine bottle stoppers.

Where did you learn or develop your technique?

I am a self-taught woodturner. My method and designs are unique and look like nothing else available, either commercially or from artisans. I have five unique signature designs and had worked with some of the world's rarest exotic woods. Every piece is hand-made and one-of-a-kind work of art.

What is your latest project?

I have been focusing on sourcing the rare woods that help set us apart as artisans. The size I require is not commonly cut so it is a constant challenge to find quality sustainable harvested woods.

Peace of the Earth Jewelry

What type of art do you create?

I use sterling silver or 14K gold-filled wire to wrap around natural stone pendants to make one-of-a-kind pendants.

How long have you been practicing your type of art?

I've been creating pendants for almost 10 years.

What is your latest project?

I can never have enough beautiful rocks (one more please I promise) and spend my entertainment time wrapping as many as I can because, as everyone knows, she who dies with the most pendants wins.

What type of art do you create?

I create photographic prints for home & office décor.

How long have you been practicing your type of art?

I have been practicing for more than 20 years.

What is your latest project?

I am currently in France photographing Provence & Cote D’Azur. After which I will travel to the Italian Riviera to photograph Portofino & Genoa.

What type of art do you create?

I create ceramic sculptures.

Where did you learn or develop your technique?

I'm self- taught from Southern Oregon University.

Anything else you'd like to share with the Bellevue Community?

I create unique sculptures which the people in the Bellevue community have never seen before.
