Thorsteinson Woodworking
Artist: Ann Thorsteinson

What type of art do you create?

I create fine Woodworking for your home - home decor, including small tables, kitchen utensils and a large arched Candleholder for larger candles such as GlassyBaby

Where did you learn or develop your technique?

We have taken several classes through different woodworking stores in the area. My husband grew up with a dad who was a hobbyist woodworker and learned a lot from him. We have made a lot of firewood, but have enjoyed learning together and teaching our kids to work with wood also. Our daughter has learned from us, and we've enjoyed expanding the business to include her boards.

Where do you draw inspiration from when creating your art?

We draw inspiration from the wood. The grain of the wood and its defects dictate what can be made from it. We are always trying to make best use of the wood with little waste. Any new pieces are planned together with everyone having input into the new design. We gain inspiration from each other to make our products look good and also be useful.

What is something that you would like to share with the Bellevue community?

We love our business because it allows us to share our art and to continue to make all our items. We really like the fact that we are a family business which gives us the opportunity to spend time together in the shop, as we create together, and in the booth, as we sell our products.

Ula Nero Art
Artist: Urszula Golod

What type of art do you create?

I create funky mixed media portraits of icons that are not longer with us.

How long have you been practicing your type of art?

I've been creating art for at least 20 years.

Where do you draw inspiration from when creating your art?

I draw inspiration from everything around me.

What is your latest project?

My latest project is of Muhammad Ali, "The Gratest" and Tina Turner "Simply The Best."
