Anything else you'd like to share with the Bellevue community?
Bright colors remind me of a simple time, an innocent time of childhood, happiness and fun. I want my glass work to do the same, invoke happiness, a smile with its bright colors and odd shapes.

I am Beekeeper using my raw local honey to create different types of specialty creamed honey like our Good Food Awards winner, our lemon ginger creamed, honey. I am celebrating my eighth year as a beekeeper, and I am currently working on my Journeyman certification. These are fascinating and wonderful creatures. I truly enjoy my job.

McCrain Photography
Artist: Philip McCrain
What type of art do you create?
I create unique avian art. I photograph birds in the wild and do my best to represent their beauty and tell their story.
Where did you learn or develop your technique?
I have been practicing photography for around fifty years. Twenty years ago when I began birding in earnest the two passions collided. While birds are beautiful, I want more than just a picture of a pretty creature. I want to share the feeling I get while spending time observing them. My style has evolved over the years to better share the experience and it continues to do so.
What is your latest project?
I am particularly fascinated with Chickadees and have been spending time in the Northern reaches of Washington seeking a particular kind - Boreal Chickadees. My quest has not yet been successful but the journey has resulted in photographs of some other species of the forests.

What type of art do you create?
I create functional art and jewelry inspired by the land and sea.
How long have you been practicing ?
I have been practicing for five years.
What is your latest project?
My most recent project was a community art piece for the city of Renton. It will be displayed in the Renton City Hall later this year. I will be teaching at Camp Craftaway on Alki Beach.
