Need a Break? Stop by Semicolon Cafe for a Pause in Your Day

Semicolon Cafe’s unique branding features the symbol that indicates a pause between two sentences. The same concept is weaved into the company's vision: to be a place where the community can rest, take a break and enjoy delicious offerings. Jizhou Li, owner of Semicolon Cafe Bellevue, said their business is an excellent match for the Downtown area, especially once the workforce from Amazon, Facebook, and Microsoft returns.

“For a busy Downtown area like Bellevue, Semicolon is the perfect place for workers to come in for a short break,” Li said. “We’re simply here to help finish off your day strong.”

Founder Sungpyo Hong started Semicolon Cafe in New York and has since expanded the cafe to five locations across the United States. Bellevue was chosen after Hong saw the city’s rapid growth.

Although Li saw great results at their soft opening last September, opening a cafe during a pandemic has not been easy. New COVID-19 variants slowed their business down, but they're optimistic things will change.

“We rely on the vast workforce in Bellevue,” Hong said. “We’re thrilled to see Downtown come alive again soon.”

Semicolon Cafe is focused on building a reputation and loyalty through their clean interior and delicious menu in the coming months.

“We want to provide the Bellevue community with a relaxing atmosphere,” Li said. “Our design is minimal and we adopt an open space to give people room to breathe.”

They invite the community to try their unique drinks and tasty sandwiches.

Drinks:

Tiramisu Latte
A delicious take on the Italian dessert, Semicolon takes the flavors of tiramisu and the rich bitterness of espresso to create their delightful tiramisu latte.

Matcha Latte
Their matcha latte is made with classic matcha powder, milk and any favorite syrup. Order it hot on a rainy day or iced when the weather gets warmer.

Food:

Bulgogi Sandwich
A sandwich like no other! The Bulgogi comes with scrambled eggs, grilled corn, green leaf lettuce, stem tomatoes, and marinated beef with bulgogi sauce sandwiched between toasted brioche bread shipped from Korea.

S.O.S. Sandwich
For a light lunch, Semicolon recommends the S.O.S., loaded with veggies like green leaf lettuce, shredded red cabbage, stem tomatoes, and grilled corn accompanied by scrambled eggs and cheddar cheese.

Dessert:

Mango Bingsoo
A Bingsoo is a Korean shaved ice dessert with sweet toppings. Their Mango Bingsoo is considered their most popular, made with cereal, mango, mango sauce, mango mascarpone, cheesecake, mint, and a rolled cigar cookie.
