Person Behind the Place:
Kay Fuengarom
Co-Owner | Fern Thai on Main
With seven dining locations from Seattle to South Everett under her belt, Kay Fuengarom has garnered a positive reputation in the restaurant business since 2000. Since its grand debut in July 2019, Fern Thai has continued to prove its commitment to community through joining the Old Bellevue Merchant Association and offering a 10% "neighbor" discount to those who own a business in the area or work locally. Curious to learn more about the leader behind one of our favorite #HeartofBellevue eateries, we reached out to Kay and asked to hear about some of her personal recommendations, her thoughts on the renewed Al Fresco partnership and delicious new developments on the horizon!
Why do you enjoy working Downtown? What separates Bellevue from other metro. areas?
Since I've been in Downtown Bellevue, the vibe and passionate energy here really stand out. Between its diverse merchants and hardly any traffic, the Downtown core has plenty to offer - everything from grocery stores to premium boutiques can all be found within walking distance!
What can guests expect from your Al Fresco service?
At Fern, we have three small "Al Fresco" areas to accommodate outdoor dining with 12 tables with full service from our complete menu.
Favorite places to SHOP in Bellevue?
Whole Foods Market and ShareTea.
Favorite places to DINE in Bellevue?
For a bite to eat, I like to swing by Just Poké in Soma Towers and visit JOEY to grab a drink with friends!
Any special projects, promotions, or upcoming events folks should keep an eye out for?
In the near future, we are planning to launch Thai-style Omakase - a Japanese phrase that refers to dishes selected by the chef for an exclusive dining experience - in our sun room, a private space that can fit about 20 people and can also be reserved for special gatherings and events.
