Staying Crafty With Bellevue Arts Museum

Staying Crafty With Bellevue Arts Museum

As the pandemic drags on, feelings of burnout become harder and harder to fight off - especially as our days are shorter and the holidays are amongst us. While the museum's facilities may be closed to the public to help keep you safe, Bellevue Arts Museum is continuing to bring virtual opportunities to the community while supporting vital needs along the way.

From video tours with the curator to at-home activities for your kids, BAM offers great ways to keep entertained and stay connected to creative outlets.

We checked out their latest programming and got up-to-speed on what's ahead - here’s the latest from the museum:

Going Virtual

After additional restrictions were put in place earlier this month, BAM again closed their physical doors to the public. In response, the museum upped their virtual game once again, bringing new opportunities to experience their exhibits online. Watch tours and with BAM’s executive director & chief curator, Benedict Heywood, on their website for free! Plus, don’t miss other virtual offerings, including yoga to flag-making. You can teach yourself new crafts or zone out for a moment of bliss.

For the Kids

Keeping the young ones in your life entertained (and learning) is no easy feat in our new normal. To help easy the burden, BAM partnered with the Bellevue School District to provide children with free at-home craft kits. Parents can pick up kits from the museum, including the upcoming holiday pop-art package as well as a “popsicle superhero” kit.

Doing Good

When the pandemic first hit, BAM partnered with Bloodworks NW to provide a safe pop-up donation center in their main lobby. The partnership was a success, helping provide critical blood supplies to area hospitals. Now, BAM and Bloodworks NW are keeping the success going with another series of pop-up donations at the museum – on now through December 18, you can make an appointment for a safe and socially distanced donation!

Providing new ways for our community to experience art has been BAM’s mission since the onset of the pandemic. So jump on your browser and check out the museum’s virtual offerings! And PS: make sure you shop the museum's online shop for a unique and creative holiday gift.
