When Van Pham Choe moved from San Francisco to Bellevue 10 years ago, she immediately knew she had made the right decision. She heard that the area would be perfect for the luxury service market she was after and quickly became enamored with the community. As a resident herself, Choe admires how the city’s atmosphere and outreach created opportunities for her business to reach the residents through fun events, newsletters, and social media.
Originally a bridal styling business, then an eyelash extension salon, Vanity Pham Salon has now blossomed into a local gem offering a variety of beauty services that include brow lamination, permanent makeup, hair removal, natural nails, permanent jewelry, spray tanning, makeup, and hairstyling. As the winner of this year’s “Best of 425” for “Best Lash Salon”, Choe takes pride in the expertise of her team and knows that she offers a unique experience to her clients as a member of the community herself.
“We’re a local business here whose lives are weaved in the local community,” Choe beams. “I eat, shop, and play at neighboring businesses nearby. In all these daily interactions, we see our clients all the time. It’s an amazing feeling so see so many familiar faces!”
Despite Bellevue’s close-knit feel, Choe acknowledges that it can be difficult for any small business to reach new clients. “We have such great clients from almost a decade ago who refer to us their network of loved ones and that has been amazing,” she says, “But we would like a wider reach!”
Choe is hopeful about how the new 2 Line will create an avenue for new faces to seek out beauty services before and after work hours, alleviating the stress of parking in such a bustling area. She also looks forward to welcoming patrons through Vanity Pham Salon’s participation in local events such as the Spring Wine Walk, Old Bellevue’s Halloween trick or treating, and anything that has yet to come.
